The KingBees are one of Louisville's hottest bands, playing butt-shaking  rocking blues  throughout the region. Founded in 1988, the 'Bees have played virtually every venue in the area, including several major blues festivals and have opened for headliners such as Albert King and Marsha Ball. A well received album, "Blues Contusion", was released in 2001 featuring all original songs, including "Big Girls",  "Florida", "Where R U" and the title song "Blues Contusion". That CD is now out of print but the band has more than enough new originals and is planning on getting back into the studio in the near future.

Over the years, original band members John Carby, Rob Brown, Jim Haswell and Rick Cain have been joined by some of the area's finest musicians, including Jimmy Gardner, Pete Peterson, Dave Marasco and Marvin Maxwell, who came out of a lengthy retirement to play.  In 1998, Big Mike Taylor joined the band and the lineup has remained solid since.

The Kingbees are renowned for their electric live shows, featuring twin guitar leads, sizziling keyboards and screaming harp work backed by a rhythm section second to none. Vocally, the band is diverse, from the growling lead vocals of Rick Cain to the strong clear leads of Mike Taylor and Rob Brown, and some songs even provide 5 part harmonies.

The Kingbees play at various venues in the region, but home is Stevie Ray's Blues Bar in downtown Louisville, where they play regularly and are sure to fill the house and have the patrons on the dance floor all night long.

Contact us at the e-mail address above and we will add you to our mailing list to update you on the band's shows and watch this site for scheduled shows, music downloads and other news about the band.

Rock On!
